Ansambl Croazzolla Concertante
/ Croazzolla Concertante Ensemble

Croazzolla Concertante is a close-knit ensemble of musicians from cities throughout Croatia, brought together by a desire to turn their talent, affinity, and the beauty of playing into something entirely new and unusual, thus proving that nothing is impossible or insurmountable. The core of the ensemble consists of members of the Cadenza Zagreb String Quartet and double bassist Saša Špoljar, who are known for their different, unconventional ideas and solutions, and who have a wealth of performing experience from diverse chamber groups. All of the musicians in Croazzolla Concertante have performed on stages throughout the world. In addition to their intent to further develop their repertoire and their artistic skills, Croazzolla Concertante’s mission is to bring together new ideas through cooperation with musicians and composers dedicated to the creation and nurturing of music.

Ansambl Musica Viva

Eminent artists from Zagreb, members of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, soloists and professors at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, have combined their skills and love for music with their long time collaboration in the Musica Viva Ensemble. It was founded in 1998 by the highly respected musician, harpsichordist and professor at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, Višnja Mažuran. Thanks to their numerous performances and high artistic quality, the Musica Viva has become one of the leading ensembles of its kind in Croatia, with undivided sympathy from the audience and music critics. The repertoire of the Musica Viva Ensemble includes authors who belong to the Baroque era, but also those from periods, such as Rococo, pre-Classical period or Late Renaissance. Musica Viva unites in its interpretations high professionalism, broad knowledge of the stylistic determinants of individual periods and unity of playing which is accomplished to the smallest detail. Two compact discs by Musica Viva have been released by Aquarius: Music at the Court of Frederick the Great and Christmas Concerts, of which the latter received the Porin Award for best performance of a solo or chamber composition in 2006.
